Baseball Recap: Apache Junction Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Apache Junction took a 17-run loss the last time they faced off against Poston Butte, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Apache Junction Prospectors had just enough and edged out the Poston Butte Broncos 8-7 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Prospectors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Rhett Ruiz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Connor Trisoliere was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Apache Junction's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.8 hits in those games compared to only 5.6 in the others. As for Poston Butte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Apache Junction will take on Coolidge at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Apache Junction is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Poston Butte, they will face off against Sahuaro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Poston Butte has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
