Basketball Recap: Madeira Takes a Loss

Madeira lost against Episcopal back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The match between the Madeira Snails and the Episcopal Maroon didn't end well, with the Madeira Snails falling 48-31.

Princess Akojenu continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Episcopal, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. Akojenu is becoming a predictor of Episcopal's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 6-2 (and 2-6 when she doesn't). Anya Everett was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

Madeira has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Episcopal, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.

Coming up, Madeira will challenge Seton at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th. As for Episcopal, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-48 win against Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart on the 6th.
