The Carrington Cardinals will head out to take on the Harvey Hornets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Carrington made easy work of Larimore and carried off a 12-2 win. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Polar Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Calleigh Hewitt made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Hewitt was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Maara Kutz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Neis, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Carrington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Harvey made sure to put some runs up on the board against Wilton/Wing on Tuesday. The Hornets blew past the Miners 11-4.
Harvey's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carrington, their record is now 4-2.
Everything went Carrington's way against Harvey when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Carrington made off with a 12-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
