Baseball Recap: Althoff Catholic Comes Up Short

Althoff Catholic lost against Marquette Catholic last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Crusaders took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Explorers. The Crusaders just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Bo Gomric was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jason Dowell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Althoff Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Marquette Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Althoff Catholic will face off against O'Fallon at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marquette Catholic, they will square off against Granite City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Explorers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
