Baseball Game Preview: Statesville Greyhounds vs. North Lincoln Knights

Statesville hasn't had much luck against North Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Greyhounds will square off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Statesville has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Statesville is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to Hickory. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Greyhounds couldn't push the score so high this time.

Statesville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Harris, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Lincoln). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Aquinas Institute a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Statesville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for North Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Statesville might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from North Lincoln in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Greyhounds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
