Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Sotomayor had won four straight home games and Corina Barrera did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Sotomayor WILDCATS blew past the Incarnate Word Shamrocks 76-24 thanks in part to Barrera, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game.

Jaeda Carter was another key player, putting up four points. What's more, she also racked up two steals, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

Sotomayor has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.8 points. As for Incarnate Word, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.

Sotomayor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-42 victory against Harlan on the 3rd. As for Incarnate Word, they will take on TMI-Episcopal at 6:30 p.m. on January 7th.
