Chuckey-Doak had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 7-16 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the University School Buccaneers 15-7. The Black Knights' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
Elizabeth Manuel made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). Manuel was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Hayleigh Seidl and Paylin Shelton did most of the damage at the plate: Seidl went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Shelton went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Seidl a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aryel Mitchell, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Chuckey-Doak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
As for University School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.
On University School's side, Reece Williams put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and 14 unearned) runs off 11 hits. That's the fewest earned runs Williams has allowed since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ire Adeyemi made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Madison Luck was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
Coming up, Chuckey-Doak will welcome Tri-Cities Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.17 runs per game on average), something the Black Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for University School, they will head out on the road to face off against Hampton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.67 runs per game on average), something the Buccaneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
