Softball Recap: Westminster Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hatton on Tuesday, Westminster Christian came back down to earth. Westminster Christian fell just short of the Jasper Vikings by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday.

Kelsie Kenny was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abi Barboza, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Westminster Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Westminster Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Jasper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Westminster Christian will host Central at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westminster Christian 3.8, Central 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Jasper, they are taking a road trip to square off against Orange Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
