Volleyball Recap: Maumee Panthers vs. Western Reserve Roughriders
Maumee was the 2-0 winner over Western Reserve when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell 2-0 to the Roughriders on Saturday.
While Maumee was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23.
Sydney Genot paced Maumee's offense, picking up eight kills. Genot got some help from Brooke Kwiatkowski and her 18 assists. Jamie Brooks controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Among those leading the charge was Makayla Case, who had ten digs. That's the most digs she has posted over her last six matches.
Maumee's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Western Reserve, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Maumee has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Oak Harbor on the 16th. As for Western Reserve, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Edison on the 15th.
