Soccer Game Preview: Turner Ashby vs. Harrisonburg

The Turner Ashby Knights will square off against the Harrisonburg Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Turner Ashby had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Rocktown put an end to it on Tuesday. The Knights fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 2-1. The loss was Turner Ashby's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Harrisonburg waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 2-0 shutout. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Harrisonburg's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Rockbridge County are ranked 213th).

Harrisonburg's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three games. As for Turner Ashby, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Turner Ashby beat Harrisonburg by a goal in their previous meeting back in April, winning 2-1. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Blue Streaks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
