Softball Recap: Bloomington Comes Up Short

Bloomington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Rantoul Eagles, falling 11-1. The Purple Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Bloomington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Shuey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Shuey is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Bloomington's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Rantoul, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-13 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomington will square off against Peoria at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rantoul, they will host Villa Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
