Softball Recap: Garrett's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Garrett dropped their record down to 12-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Fairfield Falcons by a score of 7-6. The Railroaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Peyton Grindstaff made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Jayiden Feicht was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

As for Fairfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 1st.

On Fairfield's side, Madison Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 19 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. Those 19 strikeouts gave Jones a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aliviah Spencer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Preslee Caouette, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garrett will welcome Lakeland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Railroaders are facing the Lakers at the right time seeing as the Lakers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Fairfield, they will face off against Westview at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
