Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels vs. Richard Pioneers

St. Mary Catholic Central is 0-3 against Richard since November of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels will head out to take on the Richard Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. St. Mary Catholic Central will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

St. Mary Catholic Central's tournament run continued when they took on Hillsdale on Tuesday. St. Mary Catholic Central snuck past Hillsdale with a 70-66 win. Given the Falcons/Kestrels' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Hornets are ranked 384th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Richard blew past Arbor Prep, posting an 84-57 victory. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Richard is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points over those games. St. Mary Catholic Central's win bumped their record up to 21-4.

St. Mary Catholic Central came up short against Richard in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 70-58. Can St. Mary Catholic Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
