Baseball Recap: Franklin Triumphs

The Franklin Patriots beat the Riverview Pirates 5-1 on Saturday.

Nick Massie tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Andrew Mullins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Davis, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverview only posted a batting average of .231.

Franklin's win bumped their record up to 14-2-1. As for Riverview, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will welcome Churchill at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Riverview, they will host Airport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
