Basketball Game Preview: Pine Knights vs. Lake Worth Christian Defenders

The Pine Knights will challenge the Lake Worth Christian Defenders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Pine turned things around against Lincoln Park Academy on Tuesday. They walked away with a 42-29 victory over the Greyhounds. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 666th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wade Singleton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Singleton is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Sawicki, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Pine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lake Worth Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Oxbridge Academy on Thursday and fell 67-64. The Defenders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pine's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Lake Worth Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Pine was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Worth Christian in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 46-38. Will Pine repeat their success, or does Lake Worth Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
