Softball Recap: James Buchanan Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for James Buchanan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Mercersburg Academy Storm on Friday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rockets also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Lilianna Wiley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, James Buchanan got a massive performance out of Audrey Dickson, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Dickson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emileigh Linn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

James Buchanan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

James Buchanan now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Mercersburg Academy, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. James Buchanan will host Clear Spring at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Mercersburg Academy, they will challenge Spring Mills at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
