Softball Game Preview: Scappoose Indians vs. St. Helens Lions

For the second straight game, Scappoose will face off against St. Helens. The Indians will square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Scappoose 2.4, St. Helens 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Scappoose is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Helens just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to the Lions. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

For St. Helens' part, Eme Curaming spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Curaming has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Helens' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Halli Heys, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The win (which was St. Helens' 11th in a row) raised their record to 16-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Scappoose, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-2.
