Baseball Recap: Moriarty Takes a Loss

If Moriarty was feeling good fresh off their 8-1 takedown of Gallup last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Moriarty came up short against the Belen Eagles on Friday, falling 11-3. The loss continues a trend for the Pintos in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Weston Cooley and Cash Klein did some serious damage despite the final result: Cooley got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Klein scored a run while going 3-for-4. That RBI was Cooley's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trey Denomme, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Moriarty's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Belen, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4.

Moriarty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Bernalillo on the 29th. As for Belen, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Hope Christian on the 29th.
