Recap: Firebaugh Eagles vs. Coalinga Horned Toads
It was a good run, but the Firebaugh Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 66-41 walloping at the hands of Coalinga. Firebaugh was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Coalinga apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Jaden Pena was his usual excellent self, scoring 51 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Coalinga. That makes it four consecutive games in which Pena has scored at least 25% of Coalinga's points. Damyen Tamayo was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five steals.
Firebaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Coalinga, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Firebaugh will head out on the road to face off against Tranquillity at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Tranquillity is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Coalinga, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dos Palos at 6:30 p.m. Dos Palos is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
