Softball Game Preview: Hershey Trojans vs. Hempfield Black Knights

The Hershey Trojans will challenge the Hempfield Black Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Hershey sitting on six straight victories and Hempfield on three.

Hershey gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Bishop McDevitt by a score of 14-9.

Meanwhile, Hempfield won against J.P. McCaskey on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Black Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Red Lion.

Kali Peifer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Diener, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one double. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Kiara Rodriguez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hempfield's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hershey, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
