Baseball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

Sayre extended their losing streak to 11 on Monday, dropping them down to 1-11. They came up short against the Wyalusing Valley Rams, falling 13-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redskins of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Braydon Northrop made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those runs were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Green, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Wyalusing Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Wyalusing Valley's side, they got a massive performance out of Griffin Sheldon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Marshall Huston, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sayre will host Williamson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.78 runs per game on average), something the Redskins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wyalusing Valley, they will be playing at home against Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
