Basketball Recap: Newton Falls Takes a Loss

Newton Falls suffered their closest defeat since November 22, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Champion Golden Flashes by a score of 34-31. The Tigers have struggled against the Golden Flashes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Kennedy Caldwell had an outrageously good game for Champion as she went 5 of 10 to rack up 14 points along with four steals and three blocks. What's more, Caldwell also posted a 50% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Mackenzie Braham was another key player, putting up seven points and nine boards.

Newton Falls' loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Champion, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

Newton Falls wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-16 win against Windham on the 8th. As for Champion, they will venture away from home to take on Chippewa at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
