Basketball Recap: Monument Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Denver Academy of Torah

Monument Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were outmatched by the Denver Academy of Torah Wolves and fell 70-32. The loss leaves the Lynx still looking for their first win of the season.

Despite the defeat, Monument Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Matthew Smith posted 11 points.

Denver Academy of Torah found their leader in sophomore Avi Askenazi, who went 9-for-12 to rack up 20 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Askenazi has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Kahn-Rose, who scored 15 points and six rebounds.

Monument Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Denver Academy of Torah, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8.

Coming up, Monument Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Miami-Yoder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monument Academy has given up an average of 63.9 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Denver Academy of Torah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
