Recap: Powhatan Indians vs. Clover Hill Cavaliers

The Powhatan Indians fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Clover Hill Cavaliers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 54-51. Powhatan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clover Hill apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Clover Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Kraft led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Barker, who scored eight points along with 19 rebounds and three steals.
Powhatan's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Clover Hill, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Powhatan will head out on the road to face off against Huguenot at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Huguenot is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Clover Hill will be home for the holidays to greet L.C. Bird at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
