Baseball Recap: Kent School Lions vs. Taft School Big Red
Kent School extended their losing streak to 12 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 9-1 to the Taft School Big Red. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Big Red this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in April.
As for Taft School, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6. Considering they have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Taft School's part, Christian Barbuto and Cooper Tantraporn made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Barbuto tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Tantraporn pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Barbuto got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Tantraporn went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cayden Van Dolah, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Lefkowitz, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kent School will venture away from home to square off against Avon Old Farms at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Taft School, they will head out to face off against Canterbury School at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
