Baseball Game Preview: Horseshoe Bend Generals vs. Appalachian Eagles

For the second straight game, Horseshoe Bend will face off against Appalachian. Horseshoe Bend will be playing at home against Appalachian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Horseshoe Bend fell victim to Appalachian and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 10-0. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Appalachian's part, Logan Harvey made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Harvey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, JT Hyde and Levi Parrish did most of the damage at the plate: Hyde scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Parrish scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Parrish a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Caldwell, who scored two runs and stole three bases.

The win was the fourth in a row for Appalachian, bringing their record up to 16-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Horseshoe Bend, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
