Baseball Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short

Hillcrest entered their match against South Oak Cliff on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Panthers took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Hillcrest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Gionzalez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Hillcrest's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 15-6-1. As for South Oak Cliff, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

While Hillcrest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
