The Adams City Eagles will face off against the Thornton Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Adams City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Adams City's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Gateway. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mauro Acosta was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Camden McKenzie also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Thornton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 17-4 to Aurora Central.

Elias Abeyta and Ethan Stehle did some serious damage despite the final result: Abeyta got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Stehle went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Adams City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Thornton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Adams City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Thornton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Adams City's way against Thornton when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Adams City made off with a 10-2 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
