Baseball Recap: Quapaw Wins Going Away Against Nowata

Quapaw made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Nowata, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats blew past the Ironmen 13-1 on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Ayden Bruton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bruton was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Quapaw's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 6-11 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jace Gregory was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has become a key player for Quapaw: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Koronis, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Quapaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Quapaw's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Nowata, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quapaw will welcome Wyandotte on Thursday. As for Nowata, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Afton at 4:30 p.m.
