Preview: Huntsville Panthers vs. Austin Black Bears
Huntsville is 1-6 against Austin since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Huntsville Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Austin Black Bears at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Huntsville was able to grind out a solid win over Sparkman, taking the game 35-28.
Huntsville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacks Mcclung led the charge by throwing for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Marlin Jones, who rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Austin can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-22 victory over Bob Jones at home. The victory was nothing new for Austin as they're now sitting on five straight.
Huntsville now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Austin, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Huntsville strolled past Austin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 45-31. Will Huntsville repeat their success, or does Austin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
