The Jeffersonville Red Devils will challenge the DuPont Manual Crimsons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jeffersonville has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jeffersonville couldn't beat Floyd Central on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Red Devils lost 16-6 to the Highlanders.
Kenzie Myers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for DuPont Manual, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let Christian Academy-Louisville get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Crimsons, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
DuPont Manual got a massive performance out of Bella Newell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave Newell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Russell, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
DuPont Manual always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Academy-Louisville only posted an OBP of .167.
DuPont Manual's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Jeffersonville, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Jeffersonville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like DuPont Manual struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Jeffersonville skirted past DuPont Manual 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crimsons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
