Softball Game Preview: Benet Academy Redwings vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

Benet Academy hasn't had much luck against Providence Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Redwings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Celtics at 4:30 p.m.

Benet Academy couldn't beat Marist on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Redwings lost 20-6 to the RedHawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Redwings have suffered since April 29th.

Angela Horejs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Rosner, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Providence Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Andrew on Saturday, sneaking past 9-8.

Providence Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Benet Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15.

Benet Academy suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Providence Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can the Redwings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
