Basketball Recap: Desert Sunrise Comes Up Short

After soaring to 59 points the game before, Desert Sunrise was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They were dealt a 61-25 loss at the hands of the Mingus Marauders.

Desert Sunrise lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kylah Victum, who posted nine points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Shayla Hill, who earned five points along with five steals and three blocks.

Desert Sunrise's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mingus, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

The future could be bright for both Desert Sunrise and Mingus: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Desert Sunrise will try to hand Thatcher their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mingus will try to hand Coconino their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
