Softball Recap: Fitch Falcons vs. Stonington Bears
Fitch lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Stonington, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Falcons never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Thursday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Hailey Merrill made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marcella Rentas, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Grace Cosmopoulos was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
