Softball Game Preview: Sierra Pacific Golden Bears vs. Coalinga Horned Toads

The Sierra Pacific Golden Bears will square off against the Coalinga Horned Toads at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Tuesday, Sierra Pacific was able to grind out a solid victory over Lemoore, taking the game 9-4.

Haidyn Cota spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Anaya Zaragoza was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kelsee Hanson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Coalinga put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Torres a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Horned Toads have won three matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Coalinga now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Sierra Pacific, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Sierra Pacific came up short against Coalinga in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 9-6. Can Sierra Pacific avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
