Baseball Recap: Grafton Has No Trouble Against Port Washington

Grafton never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Port Washington on Monday. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 14-2 win. The Black Hawks have beaten the Pirates the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

Jack Schmanski made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Schmanski was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nicholas Schiller was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Grafton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Washington only posted a batting average of .185.

Grafton's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Port Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Grafton will square off against rival Hartford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Black Hawks 4, the Orioles 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Port Washington is set to face off against their familiar foe Cedarburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
