Basketball Game Preview: Chelan Mountain Goats vs. Zillah Leopards

Chelan hasn't had much luck against Zillah recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chelan Mountain Goats will challenge the Zillah Leopards at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, Chelan humbled Kiona-Benton with an 80-50 victory. Given the Mountain Goats' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Bears are ranked 188th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Zillah waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They were the clear victor by a 92-68 margin over the Pioneers.

Zillah's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 89.0 points over those games. As for Chelan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-4.

Chelan was taken down by Zillah 85-53 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Chelan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
