Basketball Recap: Youngker Comes Up Short

Youngker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 82-62 to the Buckeye Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-68 two weeks ago.

When it comes to explaining why Youngker lost, don't look at Hayden Williams. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremie (JJ) Songolo, who scored 14 points.

Dayvon Standard was nothing short of spectacular for Buckeye: he dropped a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Standard also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Jamai Berry was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Youngker's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Buckeye, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-18.

Youngker didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-61 win against North Canyon on the 7th. As for Buckeye, they have also already played their next match, a 95-72 defeat against Desert Edge on the 7th.
