Softball Recap: Lompoc Starts off Right with Win over San Marcos

Lompoc had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the San Marcos Royals an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Braves have posted since March 25, 2024.

The result came thanks to Alex Brooks's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie Aguilar, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Rianna Stouppe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lompoc was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for San Marcos and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Lompoc will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Atascadero at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Marcos, they will head out on the road to take on Fillmore at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
