Basketball Game Preview: North Broward Prep Eagles vs. Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars

North Broward Prep heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Thursday. They took a hard 60-43 fall against Coral Springs Charter.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kaydie Sturm, who posted 13 points along with five boards and three steals. Makena Longo was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy - Canyons hadn't done well against King's Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Somerset Academy - Canyons came out on top in a nail-biter against King's Academy, sneaking past 55-53. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

North Broward Prep better focus on containing Alana Pinnock and Delanie Doty as the pair were huge in Somerset Academy - Canyons' win. Pinnock went 5 for 12 to rack up 19 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, while Doty went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points and seven boards. The contest was Doty's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jackie Hughes, who earned nine points.

Somerset Academy - Canyons' victory bumped their record up to 17-7. As for North Broward Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

North Broward Prep was dealt a bruising 69-34 loss at the hands of Somerset Academy - Canyons in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pinnock, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
