Football Recap: Christ the King Skates Past Nazareth with Ease

Christ the King won against Kennedy Catholic last Friday with 40 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Royals simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Nazareth Kingsmen 40-6. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won three games by 22 points or more so far this season.

Isaiah Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 156 yards and four TDs on only six carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Christ the King's defense and their three sacks. Eric Samuels was especially locked on to Nazareth's QB and sacked him twice. Samuels also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Christ the King received some extra help from Auston Headley, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Christ the King's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points over those games. As for Nazareth, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Christ the King and Nazareth could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Royals (ranked 274th) will meet St. John the Baptist (ranked 128th) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Nazareth will face off against Holy Cross at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (551 vs. 216).
