Volleyball Recap: Struthers Comes Up Short

If Struthers was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of McKinley on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats came up short against the South Range Raiders on Thursday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While Struthers was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into South Range's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14, 25-15.

Haylie John was the offensive standout of the match as she had 11 digs and two assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Struthers' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for South Range, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Struthers will head out to face off against Poland Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Range, they will challenge Brookfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Raiders are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
