Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Trojans vs. Pella Dutch

Fairfield is 0-4 against Pella since May of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Dutch. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fairfield is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since June 23rd on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mt. Pleasant 3-1. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Pella entered their tilt with Keokuk on Saturday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chiefs an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dutch, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Pella's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Fairfield, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8.

Fairfield couldn't quite get it done against Pella in their previous matchup back in July of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
