The South Iron Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Naylor Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Naylor will be up against a hot South Iron team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over Clearwater on Thursday.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Naylor, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Clarkton with a sharp 14-6 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Reindeer: they've now won three in a row.
Colby Sullivan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Naylor let Landon Lunsford and Max Davis run wild. Lunsford got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Davis went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Naylor is undefeated when Davis posts three or more RBI, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Rose, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Naylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
South Iron's record is now 7-2. As for Naylor, their record now sits at 4-5.
Everything went South Iron's way against Naylor in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as South Iron made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
