Basketball Game Preview: Southern Tornadoes vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

Southern is 2-8 against Belpre since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Southern Tornadoes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Belpre Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Southern is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 56 points on Monday, they were much more limited against Ravenswood on Friday. They were beaten by the Red Devils 59-22. The game marked the Tornadoes' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Belpre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 74-48 loss courtesy of Warren. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while the Warriors are ranked 113th).

Belpre now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Things could have been worse for Southern, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-49 loss to Belpre in their previous matchup back in February of 2024.
