Baseball Recap: Lockney Wins Going Away Against Quanah

Lockney's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Quanah Indians as they made off with an 11-4 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-7 back in March.

Dyllan Thiebaud made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xavier Jimenez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Aatrayu Leal was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lockney has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Quanah, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lockney will take on rival Wellington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Quanah is set to face off against their familiar foe Memphis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
