Baseball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

After flying high against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy on Tuesday, Newport came back down to earth. The Buffaloes lost 12-1 to the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans on Friday. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Newport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jameson Cummins, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Cummins has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Upper Dauphin Area, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Coincidentally, Newport and Upper Dauphin Area will both be playing Greenwood the next time they take the field. The Buffaloes will host the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Trojans will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
