Baseball Recap: Chico Comes Up Short

Chico lost against Alvord on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Chico lost 17-2 to Alvord. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chico saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talon Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in doubles (two).

Chico's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13-2. As for Alvord, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Chico is set to challenge their familiar foe Nocona at 5:00 p.m. on April 4. Meanwhile, Alvord will take on rival Muenster at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Alvord 2.7, Muenster 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
