Softball Recap: Felton Grove Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Felton Grove ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Sanderson Spartans 23-22. With that win, the Galaxy brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Giana Green was incredible, going a perfect 6-for-6 with one home run, nine RBI, and four runs. Those nine RBI gave her a new career-high. Cameron Pierce also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Felton Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Felton Grove's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-13. As for Sanderson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, Felton Grove will square off against Cary at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Galaxy are facing the Imps at the right time seeing as the Imps are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Sanderson, they will take on Holly Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
