Basketball Game Preview: Camden County Bruins vs. First Flight Nighthawks

Camden County is 0-10 against First Flight since January of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bruins will take on the Nighthawks in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. Camden County has given up an average of 62.4 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-42, which was the final score in Camden County's tilt against Pasquotank County on Friday. The contest marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask First Flight). They blew past Manteo 83-58 on Friday. Given the Nighthawks' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Redskins are ranked 269th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

First Flight's win came from a few key players Camden County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lex Jackson, who posted 24 points. Those 24 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Judah Carlyle, who scored 24 points.

The win made it two in a row for First Flight and bumps their season record up to 4-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.5 points over those games. As for Camden County, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Camden County was dealt a bruising 80-50 defeat at the hands of First Flight in their previous meeting back in November. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
